A new year, a new management! The end of the noughties brought several changes to our management structure. The most important change was that our alliance leader, Eethrak, who had been our leader for over 4 years decided to stop playing EVE and to transfer ownership of most of the alliance to several trusted people. Around the same time several members in management positions grew very inactive or quit to take on their own side projects. This combination led to several changes in a very short time, with multiple people who held management positions in the past being promoted again.
LiveTech, our mining arm, is now led by Katie Baccarin. Night Walkers, our PvP and missioning arm, is now led by Hikita Ikaruga. And alliance leadership has now been taken over by Overspark. Other key roles are performed by Unimaginative Name as leader of our ship building program and Aelana Anais as coordinator of our research. Our main priority was to do business as usual as fast as possible and I'm pleased to confirm we've been doing very well in that regard. LiveTech has continued it's mining operations (with a small mining stop during Hulkageddon II which led to zero lost mining ships even though there was plenty of ganking going on in our area of operations). Night Walkers is doing better than ever with almost daily PvP ops in low-sec.
Shipbuilding took a large hit at first when we lost several privately owned BPO's when people left but we've been hard at work to restore our portfolio and are already building all T1 frigates, destroyers, cruisers and industrials again and are slowly moving into bigger ships. A new research POS was launched to get all those BPO's at the proper ME and PE levels as fast as possible. All those efforts combined mean that CFS as a whole is already performing at the same level as we were before people started to become inactive and we've got our sights set on the record turnovers that were made earlier last year. Our membership levels took a slight hit but are growing again, with about 175 members at present throughout the entire alliance.
This means we are ready to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and if you're not already a member while reading this then now's the perfect time to join and help us expand even further!

Our latest war has ended and once more we've emerged victorious. With no losses reported, the Cold Fusion Syndicate has won for the third time against the Legion of Elite Clones. This is due to our members' training and resolve, and couldn't be achieved without a huge effort and significant sacrifice by them. This recent victory solidifies CFS's position within the region as a major player; a fact that shouldn't be taken lightly.
As evidence of our status, for the first time since LiveTech’s inception, membership has hit 150 pilots from throughout the world. This is no small feat and due in large part to the efforts of LT’s recruitment team, especially JoMoney. As we continue our recruitment drive, LiveTech now has another tool in its belt to attract new members: LiveTech’s first recruitment video. The video – available on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFP74Wem6VU – was produced and directed by Jareq, with the participation of many members of the alliance. All footage shown is that of real members participating in real events. The video encompasses just a small selection of what LiveTech has to offer new members
In another recruitment first, Night Walkers has decided to open its doors to those outside of CFS. Open recruitment will allow NW to choose not only pilots from the fine ranks of LT, but from the entire EVE playerbase. Through this expansion of NW, CFS will be able to better defend the alliance, provide higher levels of training, and move the alliance closer to our collective goal of low-sec/0.0 space. Requirements for joining have not changed and a new ranking system has been implemented. A video for NW is in the works as well.
In other human resources news, Management has gone through a slight reshuffle. Aelana Anais has stepped down from his position as LT Second-in-Command and Intelligence Director due to real life happenings. Although we aren't losing him completely, his expertise and dedication to management will be missed. For the time being, the role of Second-in-Command will stand vacant. The Intelligence role, however, has been passed to former Human Resources Director Vosier. JoMoney's recruitment talents will be put to alliance-use as he becomes the new HR Director. Jim Raynot, Commander of NW and CFS Ambassador, has left the alliance to pursue personal goals. Jim has served CFS selflessly, and while we are sad to see him go, we’d like to wish him good luck in his travels in EVE. In his stead, Eethrak has become NW’s newly-titled “Commander of Alliance Forces” in the interim, and Jareq has taken on the role of CFS’ Chief Diplomat. Lastly, I, Jaedan Chantes, have reprised my role as Alliance Spokesman.
With CFS expanding at such a fast rate, communication is paramount to ensure that all members know what’s going on in their alliance. We are pleased to offer a wide array of out-of-game avenues of communication. While we have traditionally always offered the website and forums, Ventrilo is increasingly becoming more important in our day-to-day operations. For those who cannot participate via voice, a long-established IRC channel is available for real-time chat. As many of our members are social-media savvy, CFS can now be found on Twitter (http://ww.twitter.com/CFSEve/). A YouTube channel has also been created under the CFSEve moniker as well. Finally, we also have the Podcast; episode 14 was recently recorded and edited and is now available for your aural pleasure on the forums.
Lastly, LiveTech is the proud owner of a new Procurer BPO. With this, LT now has a complete set of mining barges. This means we are now able to offer all of these for members to purchase, as well as being able to invent all Exhumers now As we exapand our BPO collection, we'll be able to bring in more income and provide better benefits for all of our members.
As CFS prepares to ratchet back up to full speed, we look foward to working with everyone once again as we achieve our goals.

Monday, 13 July 2009 |
Last weekend we celebrated 4 years of LiveTech's operation - the 3rd of July 2005 was the founding date of the corporation, and I joined as a Director 3 days later on the 6th, assuming the role of CEO about a month later after the founder left the game and deleted his character.
It has been an amazing experience watching the group grow from two guys all those years ago to the >150 member alliance it has no become. Back then I don't think we ever thought we would become this large or have such a long life. I remember sitting down with Argeiphontes over three years ago and starting to look into how we could finance our first frigate BPO, and trying to work out how long it would take us to mine enough minerals to build even one ship. Lots of working on a spreadsheet later (most of it done while I was in lecutres), and we launched our ship production business - a facet of the corporation that today enjoys a turnover in the tens of billions per month.
But it isn't just in terms of the ship production that we've enjoyed success over the past four years. We've seen our science arm grow to be a strong participant in invention and T2 manufacturing. Our spin-off corporation Night Walkers has grown from a fledgling idea of a PvP corp into a fighting force that regularly engages in battle in lowsec, and has proven to be a strong part of our diplomatic process. Our corporate benefits and programmes have grown immeasurably over the past four years to now include providing ships below cost price as well as free equipment and ammo to our members, and our corporate loyalty system sees many big-value items being given out at well below their market rate, providing real, measurable advantages to our members. And of course, we've expanded significantly in the four years since we started the corporation, now having well over 100 members in LiveTech alone, which has led to a very rich growth of our management structure as we brought more people in to administer what has become a large enterprise.
We've come so far in the time we've been around and grown to such an extent - and none of that would be possible without you guys. The members of LiveTech, and for that matter the entire of CFS, are what make us great. The community we've developed over the years, as well as the important community leaders we've attracted or trained, make LiveTech enjoyable to others, and its one of the main things that separates us from other corps. Someone recently described us as one giant family, and I think that that is pretty appropriate - and its only by maintaining that kind of approach, even as we grow bigger still, that we can keep the feel of LiveTech as it is. Its really reassuring to see so many old faces around CFS - people who've been with us now for many years. What you guys do for the alliance can't be over-exagerated. From running the ops, to recruitment, to making sure the various aspects of the corp are administered and get the attention they deserve, we couldn't operate without those of you who have taken on such important responsibilities. Equally, its gratifying to see so many new people around - our latest recruitment drive has picked up around 30 new people, and I think I speak for all the prior members when I say that we're really looking forward to getting to know you all and working with you over the coming weeks and months. You guys are the lifeblood of the corp, and without you collectively, there wouldn't be a corp for the rest of us.
This past week has seen some of the most successful operation of the Alliance we've ever seen. We've mined more minerals than ever before, and had by far the best attended ops anyone can remember, we've had more people active on the forum than we've ever had previously, and we've seen a massive spike in the amount of minerals being traded through our Mineral Exchange program. I'm delighted to announce that this week we've also expanded our BPO range to include the Cyclone, Huricane, Harbinger and Prophecy class Battlecruisers, meaning that we are now able to produce every Tech1 Battlecruiser in the game. These new BPOs have been sent away for research, and will be finished in approximately 6 weeks, at which time we will be offering them for purchase both on the open market and privately through the subsidised ship purchasing program for alliance members.
But all this success has not been without setbacks. Even just recently, we've been forced to fight in wars against those who would disrupt our enjoyment of the game for their own fun. As a group we've handled this well and overcome the adversity - if anything the experience has I think served to make us stronger, highlighted what we need to improve on. But that shouldn't mean that we become complacent - Eve is still a dangerous place, and the mechanics of the game leave us at the whim of the griefers. It is only by remaining focused that we will continue to be as strong as we need to be to face the challenges ahead as we grow further.
