More than six months on and it's probably time for a new update for the front of the site. As you might notice, this is being written by Eethrak who you were told had quit Eve in the previous post. That lasted around six months before the lure of Eve - or more accurately, LiveTech and CFS - brought me back to the game. Shortly after I came back, a vote was held among the Alliance Managers, and as a result I was asked to resume my duties as Alliance President. This happened back in June, so I've been a little remiss about not getting a post written sooner. It's been a pretty busy time in CFS recently. We celebrated the 5th birthday of our main corporation (LiveTech) back in July with over a week of special events, which also happened to coincide with the latest round of Hulkageddon. Fortunately for us, because we were largely busy with other things, we were able to survive the festivities without taking a single loss from the griefers and having a lot of fun at the same time. After this, August opened with the launch of a new schedule for alliance operations, introducing several new activities such as a regularly scheduled poker night for alliance members and a monthly live podcast recording session. These have proven to be pretty popular and generated a lot of interest. More generally, the alliance is once again returning to its roots, emphasising an entertaining and inclusive community for Eve players to play in. We've recently rolled our somewhat inactive "dedicated" PvP corporation - Night Walkers - back into LiveTech and relaxed our policies as to LiveTech and low-security space. We've been running with these new rules for about two months now, and we've had a nice number of groups of players taking part in lowsec adventures. We've recently posted a revised "Rules of Engagement" as those that we had previously for NW did not get moved across when they rejoined LiveTech. These RoE were written after a long discussion at the Alliance Management level, and really cement our position as a fun, but largely honourable, group of players who try to mainly engage in battle with those actively looking for the same.
We've got a really good group of players now, many of whom help out with various aspects of running the alliance and the corporation. Of course, the Alliance Management team is vital to the smooth running of the group and the discussions we have (and sometimes outright arguments) make sure that CFS keeps moving in the best direction. We are also indebted, perhaps even more so, to the Recruiters and Officers. Increasingly these guys take responsibility for the day-to-day activity of the alliance, and without them, we would not have an active player base as a result of new recruits being brought in, and we would not be able to run the operations that form the basis of our alliance.
Five years after we started, we're still here and we're still committed to the same three core values that we always have been : Community, Fun and Structure.

A new year, a new management! The end of the noughties brought several changes to our management structure. The most important change was that our alliance leader, Eethrak, who had been our leader for over 4 years decided to stop playing EVE and to transfer ownership of most of the alliance to several trusted people. Around the same time several members in management positions grew very inactive or quit to take on their own side projects. This combination led to several changes in a very short time, with multiple people who held management positions in the past being promoted again.
LiveTech, our mining arm, is now led by Katie Baccarin. Night Walkers, our PvP and missioning arm, is now led by Hikita Ikaruga. And alliance leadership has now been taken over by Overspark. Other key roles are performed by Unimaginative Name as leader of our ship building program and Aelana Anais as coordinator of our research. Our main priority was to do business as usual as fast as possible and I'm pleased to confirm we've been doing very well in that regard. LiveTech has continued it's mining operations (with a small mining stop during Hulkageddon II which led to zero lost mining ships even though there was plenty of ganking going on in our area of operations). Night Walkers is doing better than ever with almost daily PvP ops in low-sec.
Shipbuilding took a large hit at first when we lost several privately owned BPO's when people left but we've been hard at work to restore our portfolio and are already building all T1 frigates, destroyers, cruisers and industrials again and are slowly moving into bigger ships. A new research POS was launched to get all those BPO's at the proper ME and PE levels as fast as possible. All those efforts combined mean that CFS as a whole is already performing at the same level as we were before people started to become inactive and we've got our sights set on the record turnovers that were made earlier last year. Our membership levels took a slight hit but are growing again, with about 175 members at present throughout the entire alliance.
This means we are ready to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and if you're not already a member while reading this then now's the perfect time to join and help us expand even further!

Our latest war has ended and once more we've emerged victorious. With no losses reported, the Cold Fusion Syndicate has won for the third time against the Legion of Elite Clones. This is due to our members' training and resolve, and couldn't be achieved without a huge effort and significant sacrifice by them. This recent victory solidifies CFS's position within the region as a major player; a fact that shouldn't be taken lightly.
As evidence of our status, for the first time since LiveTech’s inception, membership has hit 150 pilots from throughout the world. This is no small feat and due in large part to the efforts of LT’s recruitment team, especially JoMoney. As we continue our recruitment drive, LiveTech now has another tool in its belt to attract new members: LiveTech’s first recruitment video. The video – available on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFP74Wem6VU – was produced and directed by Jareq, with the participation of many members of the alliance. All footage shown is that of real members participating in real events. The video encompasses just a small selection of what LiveTech has to offer new members
In another recruitment first, Night Walkers has decided to open its doors to those outside of CFS. Open recruitment will allow NW to choose not only pilots from the fine ranks of LT, but from the entire EVE playerbase. Through this expansion of NW, CFS will be able to better defend the alliance, provide higher levels of training, and move the alliance closer to our collective goal of low-sec/0.0 space. Requirements for joining have not changed and a new ranking system has been implemented. A video for NW is in the works as well.
In other human resources news, Management has gone through a slight reshuffle. Aelana Anais has stepped down from his position as LT Second-in-Command and Intelligence Director due to real life happenings. Although we aren't losing him completely, his expertise and dedication to management will be missed. For the time being, the role of Second-in-Command will stand vacant. The Intelligence role, however, has been passed to former Human Resources Director Vosier. JoMoney's recruitment talents will be put to alliance-use as he becomes the new HR Director. Jim Raynot, Commander of NW and CFS Ambassador, has left the alliance to pursue personal goals. Jim has served CFS selflessly, and while we are sad to see him go, we’d like to wish him good luck in his travels in EVE. In his stead, Eethrak has become NW’s newly-titled “Commander of Alliance Forces” in the interim, and Jareq has taken on the role of CFS’ Chief Diplomat. Lastly, I, Jaedan Chantes, have reprised my role as Alliance Spokesman.
With CFS expanding at such a fast rate, communication is paramount to ensure that all members know what’s going on in their alliance. We are pleased to offer a wide array of out-of-game avenues of communication. While we have traditionally always offered the website and forums, Ventrilo is increasingly becoming more important in our day-to-day operations. For those who cannot participate via voice, a long-established IRC channel is available for real-time chat. As many of our members are social-media savvy, CFS can now be found on Twitter (http://ww.twitter.com/CFSEve/). A YouTube channel has also been created under the CFSEve moniker as well. Finally, we also have the Podcast; episode 14 was recently recorded and edited and is now available for your aural pleasure on the forums.
Lastly, LiveTech is the proud owner of a new Procurer BPO. With this, LT now has a complete set of mining barges. This means we are now able to offer all of these for members to purchase, as well as being able to invent all Exhumers now As we exapand our BPO collection, we'll be able to bring in more income and provide better benefits for all of our members.
As CFS prepares to ratchet back up to full speed, we look foward to working with everyone once again as we achieve our goals.
